Welcome to Our Lady of the Rosary Church
With its Foundation Stone from Nazareth in the then Palestine, sturdy and robust stands the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and St Therese of Lisieux or, simply, 'The Rosary Church' as it is known in the area. It has stood since it was built in 1932 by the Parish Priest, Fr John Power and his people. Together with the resident English Catholic families and the wave of Irish immigranat families, a church, a parish house and primary and secondary schools were all built and flourishing by the year 1937. in 1940 and 1941 the church, parish house and school were all seriously damaged in the terror of the Second World War. By April 1943 Priest and people had restored all.
Like the universal church, the Rosary Church is a missionary church today, as in the beginning. Its mission is in the secularised world of industrial Birmingham.
You will hear the 23 bells of its carillon sweetly ringing on Sunday mornings and on some weekdays, calling all to remember God and His presence amongst us. This carillon is one of 14 carillons in Britain and Ireland and one of only three carillons in Catholic churches.
We are here, alive and well, adapting to and meeting the tasks now, in this 21st Century.
